Art Paris – 31st March to 3rd April

Just had an email from Saatchi Online to say that several pieces will be represented digitally at Art Paris later this month. I am happy to have reached the last 64 of this competition and voting is still open –   The piece I have entered is Parassita, (soon to be available online through eyestorm) although I believe I am able to show a small selection of other work digitally too.  Would be interesting to know how they intend to run a digital display at the show and how the work will translate to that format.  Anybody going to the Art Paris exhibition?

Strength and Comfort with Opus!

I’m pleased to announce that 2 new original pieces are now available from Opus in Newcastle.  The original works will soon be placed on display and accompanying these will be the sale of newly produced limited edition prints of Rose and The Harvest.  The prints, produced by fine art printers Harwood King, are a combination of Silkscreen Varnish and Giclee techniques and are also available from the work for sale page on this site, thanks for looking.

Roots, ink and rooibos tea on watercolour paper

Just finished this piece and pleased with the way the colour works with this type of tea.  Also working the roots was a very fluid process, would enjoy making an abstract piece made up entirely of this type of form.

Flower of Life – Lightbox

Back from the Signal Gallery’s private view showing Dan Baldwin’s work – Stunning new canvas piece ‘Cyclone’.
Thought I’d publish the image of the first large scale backlit drawing ‘Flower of Life’.  The final piece will be housed in a large lightbox (yet to be designed and built)

Closer

Finished work on the 1 metre square piece Closer, was a challenge working both in a quadrant format and also at that scale in pen ink and of course tea.
Closer illustrates our connection to nature as a two way relationship, our dependency and our appreciation

Whats New…

A visit to Harwood King to see Quentin & Nyle on Friday to have a look at the prints of “The Harvest & Rose – & they are looking Gorgeous, really do the originals justice and more than that using varnish they capture part of the creation process of the pieces, – a few tweaks here and there and selecting a printing paper for the finished 2 editions and we’ll be there, look out for them they’ll be around very soon.  Then after Harwood King I visited Ink_d gallery in Brighton to meet up with Dan and show some new work.  It’s a great space which hosts some amazing work from textile artists – painters and printmakers, loved the layout and the vibe of the place.  Dan had displayed 2 of my light boxes alongside  the large drawings of ‘Acceptance’ and ‘Gust of wind ‘ which looked great in the space, I left a bonus piece with Dan too which I hope will get seen by visitors to the gallery.  Left without a souvenir cigarette by soft furnishing artist Harriet Hammel … but just ordered one from ink_d now, they are amazing!!

http://www.eyestorm.com are also featuring 6 originals of my work online, (currently featured on the front page of the site) – The Harvest, Rose, Thistle, Nettles, The Discovery and Sacred.

Goldleaf

Goldleaf explores sacred geometry, the golden section and it’s link to floral forms. Ink and Tea on paper

Sacred Nature

New piece of work exploring our relationship with nature growing organically but constructed around geometrical forms.  Following an accident with a large cup of tea and a plan chest full of drawings!!  Spilling tea on the page is a large part of my work at the moment but this mornings accident very nearly wiped out all of my recent pieces – Transferring to the portfolio now.
