I have just had one of my pieces accepted for an exhibition at the William Morris Gallery this October, it is a piece that was inspired by my background as an embroidery designer so it was opportune that an exhibition should come along that is to feature works inspired by Morris. It’s great to have some work on show locally, This (and the current full moon) have spurred me on to creating a new piece, and I like the direction it is heading.
The piece below is inspired / influenced /byVorocchio’s sketch which recently formed part of the excellent exhibition at the British museum. I visited this show 4 times and loved the energy of the drawings. This piece in particular struck me as the plaits in the hair reminded me of the wheat sheafs that I was introducing through the work. I am going to experiment more with the patterns of hair and foliage – they seem to fit naturally into the drawing style I have. With the 100sqft project so busy at the moment it’s good to be drawing again.
